After the backwardness that East Germany went through, with 10 year waiting lists for crappy cars, in Germany... crappy CARS, you'd think people would know better.
Do alot of former East Germans have nostalgia for that time?
Not to my awareness, but there is a noticeable difference between West and East Germany. For example the industry is more devolped in the West. People tend to be less... uh liberal... than usual in the East. If you'd take a look at all the states where the Afd has public mandates you'd see the east is where they shine the most. And honestly sometimes you get the feeling that people forgot what it was like under the DDR over there.
Well, I guess they know what it's like to be invaded and have to bow to foreigners whims.
Especially since they had the stasi hounding them. But I don't know too much about the DDR. Maybe there was a certain order to life that they miss? I assume the state issued jobs and housing. But I think it's interesting that there were a number of old villages that the war didn't touch and gives a taste of medieval building. Altho i was just reading how some old castle that goethe stayed at had it's stockroom of medieval weaponry looted in 1945 never to be seen again.
