I love this! There aren't many of us left in America these days, but my great-grandfather was descended from the original Alice (who was a dark haired little sprite,not the flaxenhaired child of Tenniels original illustrations, which inspired Disney's classic Alice)-for whom Rev.Dodgson/Lewis Caroll wrote his whimsical classic adventures. I've always wanted to get to Newcastle to see Ravensworth before it subsides into the ground because they had the unfortunate idea of allowing coal mining shafts to be sunk underneath the house!
