Weren't the KKK coincidentally and not at all relatedly by shear unexpected chance founded at the same time the NRA started pushing for southern white men to have more guns without restriction?
NRA was started by a Union soldier who wanted Northern soldiers to be better marksmen in case the South tries to restart the conflict. KKK was started by a Confederate soldier who wanted to disarm black men to make them unable to defend themselves against their raids.
You need to sue your history teacher with how badly you have been taught history. There were no restrictions to firearm ownership at the time NRA was started. First gun control laws in history of United States were written by the KKK and targeted freed slaves.
Never claimed that it was the "main" purpose. Harder to terrorize people that have the tools to defend themselves. Even a small minority has a fighting chance when armed. Which is exactly what Second Amendment is there for.
