Today marks the first time we do a little ALW on Tuesday. We look to recap the goings-on around the league from Monday action. Only four games were played yesterday, so I'll keep 'er brief.
Let's start with Walker Buehler's stellar outing, in which he went eight super-strong innings of two-hit ball while striking out eleven and giving up just one earned run. This was a nice bounce-back from his previous outing where he only lasted five innings and gave up five earner runs on six hits and one walk. He has now tossed a QS in five of his last six starts, while winning three of those games. He has now brought his ERA down to a very good 3.69 and has an excellent 1.00 WHIP to pair with that. Looks like he is indeed back to his 2018 form. Coach Ryan must be happy about this, not to mention that his recent surge in the standings makes Coach Brandt's 5.4.19 shit-talking-fest seem even more retarded now than it seemed then.
In other news, John Lester corrected what appeared to be a disastrous nosedive. He spun a gem Monday night, throwing seven innings of four-hit, one earned run ball. In Lester's previous three starts, he gave up SIXTEEN earned runs in just fourteen innings. That horrific slide saw his sparkling 1.16/1.11 ERA/WHIP skyrocket to 3.59/1.39! He's now back to 3.32/1.31. Nice ERA, but the WHIP needs a lot of work. Fortunately, he's a douchebag and will almost certainly crash and burn soon.
On this quiet MLB Monday, the action at the plate was quite limited. Javier Baez had the biggest night, hitting one HR, adding another XBH with a two-bagger, while chipping in three RBI. Other dingers that affected the league came from Realmuto, Mallex Smith, Corey Seager, and others.
On the injury front, Andrew McCutchen suffered what appears to be a sprained left knee. He collapsed to the ground awkwardly after a rundown ensued. He required assistance to limp off the field, but it is likely he did not suffer an injury that will require a long-term IL stint. a 10-day IL move appears likely, but the Phillies will wait until MRI results are in to make that official.
General league recap - Murderer's Row is back securely in 1st place, while Roto Monster is still clinging on to 2nd place. R.I.P.J.F. is in 3rd place nipping at Roto's heels, with Punto rounding up 4th place.
