Evil begets evil I guess

Nature of the beast. New members don't know what jokes have been told ten times before, but they post them because to them they are funny.

Also there is a generational aspect. You see many of the same school jokes because that is their world. You see lots of you're gay jokes because that's what their friends think is funny. But then there is the older crowd that tend to have more life experience and those tend to be more rounded. It's just life. I've lived more of it than the young and I can use that to be more clever, but going more clever often means losing the audience that don't get the joke. I'm ok with that.

I actually try often to layer my memes with subtle jokes that I have found many miss, but I also found those that get the subtle joke tend to share not only my sense of humor, but also tend to be parents or like me, grandparents. That is what keeps me here. A peer group I can enjoy sharing humor with.

Edit: There is a joy in finding young people with a wicked sense of humor too. Like some of the very young here, I developed an adult sense of humor at an early age. (we moved a lot and I was around adults more than kids my own age for a good portion of my life)

This is true. The same goes for unusual templates - the newer users think they are novel and funny, and post them although most of us have seen the things too many times already.

I'm still fairly young, so you could say I have the best of both worlds: I understand most of the older jokes, but still have respect for more "modern" humor. I've seen memes from 40- 50- 60 year olds that I still don't get, but they seem to make the best, freshest, most clever ones by far. Your memes, for instance, are often very insightful and well thought out.

And it's always a pleasure to meet kids who have been tuned to a finer sense of humor, well beyond their age. I like to say that I am among them, since most of my childhood was spent either alone or with people 30-40 years my elder - although in more private settings I have been known to make very bland and/or tasteless wisecracks ;)
