It's for jokes in general. It used to be that when a joke was told, there were only a few resulting possibilities. It could elicit a laugh. It could elicit a groan. Or it could simply fall flat and get no response. But in recent years, yet another possibility has arisen, and that is one of scrutiny. Jokes are now scrutinized by far too many people, in a search of what might be deemed offensive to some people, or for what could simply be politically incorrect. This scrutiny simply was not done for the 55+ years that I have been on this planet.
