Candy was so good. Too bad he was in so many poorly written films. Good dramatic actor too. SCTV was the best. Like this sketch, they could do satire and not have it be mean and ugly. (I usually cringe when seeing Germans satired as it's usually lowest common denominator stuff that you've seen ad nauseam)

Also loved the Hey Giorgey! skit when the Russians took over the network. "Uzbecks drank my battery acid!"

I was SO happy to see Eugene Levy get the American Pie series and get back into the mainstream. Also, Martin Short's Jimminy Glick is one of the few things I've seen lately that consistently makes me laugh my ass off. So smart and such a quick wit.

I also just found the David Letterman and Charles Grodin interviews. You probably remember those. Grodin always acted contentious and insulting to Letterman, and Carson before him, as a bit. Man, was he funny. Back when late night shows were about humor. Letterman was classic too before he became a curmudgeon.

Yeah, I stuck with Letterman till he seemed too much of a meanypants with anyone with an accent. If they don't understand what you're saying, it isn't that funny after 5 minutes.
When Ricardo Mantalban got on, I though Letterman was going to poke him because of his, but instead they both tore into Villechaiz's bad carreer move leaving Fantasy Island. I nearly passed out from laughing.

No, the thing with Grodin was a complete joke. He did it with Carson too and they both loved him. One time he brought a lawyer on to complain about a previous joke Dave had made. But people would still write in angry letters thinking he was serious. I think it was funny but I really like Andy Kaufman too. And Grodin had great timing and was very quick and sharp.

Letterman was always uptight but he was hilarious in the 80's and 90's. Not sure how he got away with doing 'very creepy things' to the intern(s) but he makes me feel sad about the demise of late night comedy.
