I think given the hippocratic oath a doctor's main role and all his efforts should be to save life not end it. And a pregnant woman no matter how she found herself in that state is a mother to the child inside her. To end the life of that child goes against every instinct and natural law. Jewish laws of stoning were made obselete when Jesus became incarnate. Remember when He said "let he who is without soon cast the first stone "? I don't think a woman should be punished for an abortion, the weight of having killed your own offspring is punishment enough. But I do believe doctors who kill should not be doctors.

I'm going to try to answer from the perspective of the moral argument of double effect. In an ectopic pregnacy when there is no hope of a viable baby developing and furthering the pregnancy would put the mother at risk sometimes there's an option to remove the tube. In that case the death of the fetus would not be the primary goal but an effect of the removal of the tube.

That being said abortions now are only rarely used to save the life of a mother most are for convenience or because a woman is convinced by society that a career and education are more important, or she is shamed by so called Christians because she was raped or had premarital sex. Those are the abortions that a truly Christian society would have no need of.

The intent of the outcome is different than an outright abortion. Willing the death of an unborn child (even if one were to assume the child would be deformed) should never be the intent. But we focus on saving both the life of the mother and the unborn. (I know abortion advocates disagree on putting equal rights on both) have you ever heard of the just war theory? It's interesting and along the same lines. I might start a discussion in my stream about it.

Octavia are you still trying to make a point digging at the 1% of the cases again? Didn't we already have a conversation about this and you epic failed?

If you're following our discussion he was not familiar with the theory I brought up so it never hurts to get another person's perspective. What do you say about the 1% I'm interested to hear your argument.

An old conversation he brought up rape as a excuse for abortion. I totally p0wned the shit out of him.

This is why Christians need to abolish the church, along with its sacraments. Now that there are already so many people on the earth, we no longer need to reproduce, and the whole purpose of marriage was to make having kids more convenient. The only forms of sex that should be condemned are incest, rape, homosexual activities, misuse of contraception, and arguably zoophilia, with premarital sex and prostitution being tolerated.
Besides, if the woman got raped, the society would only condemn the rapist, and the woman can always adopt.

Wow, ok so better to not have any Christians and allow prostitution? No marriage is not just for producing children it's also about the union of a man and woman. I can't even wrap my head around your comment.

I never said that Christianity should be phased-out; I said that the Church should be abolished in the same way as the Protestants did it. Sex should just be seen as a way for opposite-sex friends to bond. If prostitution becomes more accepted, it can become a reliable job.

You evidently must not be a Christian if you believe human trafficking, abuse of men women and children in the business of postitution is a good thing.

How can there be human trafficking in a business where you see whom you’re f**king?!

How so? You also have pornography which goes hand in hand. They are both a multi million dollar industry, as is abortion. They are all linked.
1 up, 5y
The main problem with your whole argument and support for any of this is the trivialization of sex. That's society's main issue and why we have abortion.
1 up, 5y
I could have also put a photo of a person living under a rock.
1 up, 5y
I cannot even believe you are supporting kidnapping innocent children and abusing them so their life is a living hell. You are being flagged. That is beyond reprehensible and sick. Goodbye.
0 ups, 5y
When did I ever say anything about pornography?! But yeah, there’s nothing wrong with pornography, and neither prostitution nor pornography have anything to do with abortion!
0 ups, 5y
Child pornography, just like prostitution, would provide reliable jobs to minors if it was legal.

When I said “adopt”, I meant to say that she can give the baby up for adoption.
2 ups, 5y
Agreed. There's never a reason to kill a child when there are many parents waiting to adopt. (Before I get slammed with there are so many children already waiting to be adopted) it's a long and costly process but better than the other option.. I'm adopted so I understand.

Not exactly, I meant abortion would not even be considered because a baby no matter the circumstance in which it was concieved would be welcomed and the woman supported by the community without question. That's what a truly Christian society would do. Chelsea was saying it's more Christian to have legal abortion. I say it's more Christian to not even have abortion exist.

No matter how anyone tries to prevent something from existing it will still find a way to do so. This goes all the way back to the original sin.

There would literally be no way a “perfect Christian society” could prevent the creation of abortion.
2 ups, 5y
Of course, evil will find its way in no matter how good a society is. But making abortion acceptable and even applauded as it is today? That's what's unchristian.

But with that logic, the women would still need to abort; they’d just be unable to. I was afraid that it had to do with people wanting to have families, which would be dumb because of the overpopulation. IMO, ideally, people should use contraceptives responsibly.
1 up, 5y,

Overpopulation is a myth, and actually most abortions occur because of failed birth control. The best way to avoid having a baby is not have sex or avoid sex when the woman is fertile (only a few days out if the month) contraceptives are a big market and when it fails abortion is the other big market. Women are being lied to and taken advantage of by feminist like the one above.
0 ups, 5y
SMH 🤦🏽‍♂️ you think I’m a feminist?! I hate feminism so much that I’m against womens’ suffrage, because those c**ts threw us men under the bus by banning alcohol! What evidence do you have that overpopulation is a myth?! For every 2 people who die every second, 5 people are born! The numbers don’t lie! My belief is that contraception should be further promoted by defunding abortion, because most abortions are used as alternatives to contraception, not as safety nets!

Believe it or not, there are some that would rather have a woman and/or child die from childbirth than abort.

Not most Christians, especially not the Catholic church. Both lives should be saved. If there is no hope of the baby surviving outside the womb despite the best efforts in the medical field the woman's life should be saved at all costs.

I wouldn’t say ESPECIALLY the Catholic church, now that Pope Francis is pro-abortion. I don’t even like calling Catholics Christians, because papal infallibility is a form of paganism.
1 up, 5y
Where did he say abortion is acceptable? Please don't make a claim without backing it up with sources.

The chances of either one happening are highly unlikely, and the woman’s pregnancy is the woman’s responsibility.

2 ups, 5y
Men and women are both part of the conception of a child therefore a man and a woman lose a child with each abortion
1 up, 5y
What I meant was the hypocrisy of saying that abortion is Christian. I’m against abortion.
