Would it be a big deal to regain a submission by deleting the botched one?

Just in case one you've submitted has been sitting there for way too long with no reason you can see for it not to be featured... much like one I submitted today

Yas! I've wasted too many submission because I wanted to correct something. If I delete it it shouldn't count toward submitted because I can't delete after featured.
