the 2nd amendment is a right.
americans have a right to purchase,own and fire their guns.

my family are devout,evangelical chrisitans,who are very rightwing,patriotic americans.

and they love their guns.

and even THEY agree that reasonable gun legislation is needed.
they have no issue with background checks that may reveal mental illness,or waiting a few more days to get their new shiny gun.
they WANT guns show sales to be more strict.

the whole "gun control" debate is a canard,a political BOOMSTICK that politicians trot out every two years to fire up their base.

I support the right of sane, non-felons to own as many guns as they wish. I think most people do. But, I also supported the Brady Bill, that Sanders voted against. I thought the bill that would hold gun manufacturers as responsible for their product as we hold Monsanto, was OK. It would definitely change their marketing and reduce their opposition to background checks. Sanders voted against this and other sane gun conrtrol laws.

No offense to Vermont, but even if gun ownership there were literally 100% they'd still need about six guns each before that would be considered "big business" for gun manufactures.

Century International Arms, one of the largest exporters of guns in the world ships thousands upon thousands of guns out of Vermont. It is also the headquarters of gun manufacturers. Check his history. He has even said that he was pro-gun control the first time he ran for Congress and lost. He admitted that this changed his position. Guns employed too many voters in his state for him to ignore. He won't take their bosses money, but never turns down donations from gun company workers. This is why he voted against the Brady Bill and other legislation that would impact the gun companies.

His record on voting against anything that might put controls on gun companies shows that he is their bitch. You appear to be just like the Trump supporters who he said would still vote for him, after he shot someone in public. Sanders' record on guns would scuttle the candidacy of any other non-cult candidate.

You are not bothered that Sanders' opposition to background checks has helped mass killers get guns? I tell you what, imagine that a moderate left candidate (your choice) supported guns because they lost an election in which they opposed them. What would be your take. My take is: It annoys me that Bill Clinton and Barak Obama don't go far enough to what we need to make the changes we need in America, but arguably they wouldn't have won their respective elections if they hadn't softballed their position just enough.

Sanders is one vote on an issue where the Senate falls short by about 40 on a good day to pass anything even remotely useful. There's a bigger picture to make a single-issue thing out of it.

You are excusing him for this. My guess is that you excuse him for writing porn, exposing himselt to be a sexist and have no respect for women saying that they fantasize about being gang raped when performing oral sex on their husbands. My guess is that you forgive him for saying "I was a little busy at the time," when he was confronted by the tip of the iceberg of the widespread harassment of women and LGBTQ people by his campaign leadership. My guess is that you simply look the other way when he gives mealy mouthed excuses for being who he is, because you have bought the lie of what he says he is. Finally, Sanders did not vote to support Big Gun manufacturers only once, but on multiple of laws on many days. You have bought his lie about this issue, because you want to, not because it is true.

I was administrative officer for a large behavioral health program, that was headquarters for the psychiatry training program for one of the top five University Medical Schools in the country. When you get your degree in an appropriate discipline, you can start using mental health terms to describe people. When you do, you will find out that diagnosing someone you have never met and labeling their actions accordingly, is not appropriate.
