The political memes were taking over the hot page because of all the hatred and comments/views. A lot of people started complaining about having to always see the political memes so they divided up the Flip into streams. It is still kind of leveling out after that change, but has also made it a lot easier to get points and move up because of more submissions across multiple streams. And in the submission terms it says that political memes are not welcome in the fun streams, And that is an option when flagging a meme. Read the submission terms next time you drop one in the fun stream.
