I'm actually ok with politics being a compromising process. I have my own vision of how the world should be run, but I am not the king of the earth and I'm happy to trace out a compromise with everyone else's vision, especially since politicians - by the nature of their work - have thought about the devils in the details a lot more than I have.
But the consequence of that is, then nobody gets to tell me who I can and can't blame anymore. If in the spirit of community compromise, we never rolled back the mistakes of Reagan's administration, then I'm going to harp on about how we still need to do that. If I can trace an issue back to the Roman Emperor Augustus, then I'm well within my rights to harp on about that, too.
If everyone's going to drag their feet about what needs to be done around here, then they can't lecture me on who I can and can't blame. Doesn't work that way.
