To answer your question. no I've never downvoted anyone. We all need points, and when the newer users see they've gotten a bunch of new points it might encourage them too.
Although one time there was one user who was bothering me, so I didn't upvote any of his comments on my meme. And in the end I was responding to him with lyrics from Avenged Sevenfold's song Nightmare. I guess he didn't like that very much because after a while the mods took the meme down. Ha-ha-ha-ha.
But that's the worst I've done here.
And I'd hate to go against my motto.

Anyway yes, the points are great. They make the site more interesting both for newer users and veterans like us. But I think the point system turns this into too much of a competition instead of a corner of the internet to caption pictures and laugh. That's probably one of the reasons I stopped posting... I wasn't having as much fun. But now I'm more free with upvotes and I never downvote anybody, even the crueler, baser users who remind us of everything we ever hated about being online. Oh, by the way....

And you are right about the points, but sometimes competition can be a good thing, because it can make you feel as though you've achieved something, speaking more about the newer users. But I'd hate for you to stop posting new stuff altogether because of it, As you said this is a place to try and make people laugh and feel better. But I also stopped posting for a while, but that's because I wasn't happy, and it's hard to m,ake others smile when you don't feel it yourself. But I do understand what you're saying.

Alright, fair enough. Interestingly though it seems to be the experienced users who care more about getting points. After years of meming, it becomes a bit of a bore... especially when you try to make the maximum number of submissions everyday without taking any time off. I suspect that's one big reason we've lost so many late great memers. Shame. Everyone in my circle took a few weeks off every other month or so just to get back into the spirit. But yes, it was always difficult not to log in and post because we had gotten so used to it. I caught LordCheesus sneaking back during breaks a number of times. I think we all did it, but sometimes not as conspicuously as others. Haha.

Anyway, here's another upvote to add to your collection. 1 comment upvote = 30 points, but I'm sure you already knew that. Cheers :)

Personally I think I like seeing the upvotes more than the points. Because who knows maybe your meme was able to brighten someone else's day. Or maybe I'm just crazy... I thought we came here to have fun. Are you not into having fun these days? I understand things change as do people's lives, resulting in the great memers coming and going, But I understand. And when I first came back I tried to go back and upvote as many users as I could from before. So I have an idea of what you're saying. All of you should feel free to sneak back and post...you guys are funny.

Of course I enjoy having fun here. My point is that the score can make some of us lose sight of the enjoyment that stems from putting out your best memes and making people "rotfl." I'll be the first to admit, 100 upvotes on a meme is more beautiful than 4,000 points. The most upvotes I ever got was around 420, if I remember correctly. That was a thrill my position on the leaderboard just couldn't match. Actually, I think I am having more fun now, just commenting without making any submissions. To each their own. And coming back in the middle of a hiatus to post? It kind of undermines the whole idea of taking one, but it's hard to stay away!

Makes me wonder why these amazing, HILARIOUS users decided to hang up their coats for good. Life gets in the way, I suppose. I hate to think that anything untoward might have happened to them...

I'm glad you can still see the value of having fun here, and your absolutely right about the upvotes over the points, you can never tell how your creations may uplift other's days. And you can comeback any time to share with others the smile that comes from your memes in whatever form you wish. As long as it makes you happy.

And you never know why these amazing, HILARIOUS users aren't here, but I like you I hope they are all ok. Sometimes real life gets in the way of having fun, like me being away or your hiatus. We can only hope they are able to find their way back here.
