Your thoughts on Medicare for all?

I am in favor of affordable health-care, but I'm not sure Medicare for all is affordable or practical, but I could be wrong.

I think we need to take a serious look at healthcare and come up with workable plans to reduce costs. Without reducing costs, I don't think just saying Medicare for all is responsible. Without knowing the costs or the impacts on the economy how can you make it work? The last estimate I have seen is that the cost to the government is around $3 Trillion a year, not counting the impact on the insurance industry.

I am concerned when people like Cortez and Sanders are pushing it, but neither can say what the costs are, what impact it would have, or how to pay for it. They appear to have no understanding of economics and I doubt either have done any studies on this.

I would agree. Efficient Medicare with a private option would be supported by me. The problem is it would be ridiculously expensive. I wouldn't support it.

One interesting thing, this no free healthcare for all isnt hurting the dirt poor who dont have anything. They can just go in and get everything for free because they can just walk into an er and cant be refused. The problem is lower middle class people who have insurance and properties than can be seized go in and have everything taken from the to pay.

I don't have an answer. The problem is very complex and we need smarter people than me to solve it.

However, just saying free healthcare or medicare for all, without a real plan is not the answer either. It sounds good but it doesn't do good. We saw what a disaster Obamacare was, this could be far worse if not thought out.

I know conservatives have a general consensus that Obamacare is horrible, but how so? It didnt increase taxes that much and gave more people coverage. I know it taxed better plans and some people lost their plan, but more people without it gained it. Is it the govt going to far? How is it bad?
