I realize that this is the internet and some of that is to be expected, but more is getting popular than usual lately

I think it’s maybe youngsters just over copying the crap they’ve seen on various YT channels and trying to pass it of as their own & not being able to understanding how to be a creative user in a creative community.

I think there's definitely some truth to that. It seems like lately it's been in abnormally high amounts.

This trend has only been going on for a few weeks on this site, but really, if I wanted to see the same stuff over and over I'd go back to ebaums

It's one of those things that's funny sometimes, but the top pages are so saturated with it lately it stops being funny.

It's frustrating because there are so many kids on here posting cryptic crapola that only their friends in the gaming world might understand. That would be fine if they posted it in the gaming section and not all over the fun section. There seem to be no standards for what gets featured. Also, because I'm fairly new here, I wish someone could explain what constitutes a "view" --and how it is determined. I haven't figured out why some of my memes can get thousands of views, and others get maybe 15 views, when they are equally good memes. (I test them out on my Facebook friends beforehand to gauge their reaction!) My suspicion is that administrators are maybe knocking them down or limiting their circulation if they don't like the content? Let me know if I'm way off base here.

There's also a repost stream, yet the fun stream is clogged with reposts too. Much of the time, it's also kids who see something get popular so they all post the same thing ad nauseum. It does get frustrating because lately, a lot of reposts have been making it to the top pages and I don't mean just stuff that sounds familiar, I mean things that are image for image word for word copies of things I've seen at least a dozen times already within the last few weeks.
Views seem logical to me, it should just be the number of people who click on the page. I don't have any idea what determine's what's "hot" because I've seen posts with less views and upvotes over a longer period of time than some of mine.
The way it should be is people check out the Latest tab and comment on stuff they like. Problem is, I can only look at so many "My mom said..." or " UR Mom Gay, No U" posts before I give up and just comment on friends' stuff.
There are some people who never visit the latest tab. Some of them will upvote everything on there without regard, so I think that's a big contributor to seeing all the same stuff all the time
