Its supply and demand. If we didnt eat cows, then they wouldn't be farmed, and wouldn't produce so much. They wont survive without our help.
There really isnt an easy solution. I dont want to stop eating meat either. Long term, more sustainable energy would probably be a good thing, more in the form of tax breaks than a requirement. Fossil fuels will run out in some time, http://www.carboncounted.co.uk/when-will-fossil-fuels-run-out.htm.
A big problem is that even if we stop, countries like China and India will keep going, and have an economic advantage. The truth is, untapped resources or space colonies would probably be smartest. Our NASA funding is pitiful, and we really dont want the possible future of our race privatized. I dont believe global warming or running out of resources will be our end.
One last thing. WE DO AFFECT CLIMATE CHANGE. period. These "naturally produced things" are by us. If there wasnt us, the cows wouldn't all be there. Farm animals produce more than wild ones. We burn the firewood. Most of greenhouse gasses (look up to pie chart) are from industry and electricity. I think were the ones using industries and electricity.
Pie chart source: https://www.epa.gov/ghgemissions/sources-greenhouse-gas-emissions#t1fn1
It says that "Human activities are responsible for almost all of the increase in greenhouse gases in the atmosphere over the last 150 years.1 The largest source of greenhouse gas emissions from human activities in the United States is from burning fossil fuels for electricity, heat, and transportation."
Also, our forestry offsets only 15%.
