True there is an increase in knife crime, particularly in London, (from a low base) but action is being taken to get knives off the street, starting with custodial sentences for anyone carrying a knife.

39,000 gun deaths a year in the US. Action being taken in the US to deal with this problem. Nothing.

UK, one mass school shooting in 1996. Action taken on gun control, zero school shootings since

US mass school shootings, many each year. Action taken to protect children. Nothing. Result, more dead kids due to US inaction.

You banned guns, so the gun violence stopped but know you have mass knife violence. You're beginning to ban knives. What are you going to do when the next weapon made from common household items comes along? Ban it too? "DOWN WITH BREAD ROLLERS! THEY BASH IN OUR YOUTHS' BRAINS!" I can see the protest posters now.

So what is the answer to America's dead kids in school shootings?

What's the answer to Britain's dead kids in the streets from stabbings? Your custodial sentences are doing /great/. Certain cities answer is to become gun-free. Problem is? Those cities are now some of the worst off in the nation. You can say because of ease of transport across state lines... but then why aren't the states these guns are coming from murder central? Could it possibly be that the culture in certain cities is toxic and leads to more gun violence? Because small town america(which has more guns per capita than the cities) do NOT have rampant gun crime. Go figure.

Well at least in the UK and NZ they are taking action, whether it will be effective or not remains to be seen but at least they are doing something. All we see in the US is the same reaction after every school shooting and nothing changes:

It's too soon to discuss the issue
Thoughts and prayers
Lets arm teachers
Lets station ex-military at schools
Lets teach kids how to react when a shooter comes into their school
Lets give them bullet proof vests

anything except talk about guns. It's like f**king for virginity.
