The proof is right in front of you. During the entire Bush years there was very little complaint about illegal immigration and the rates of border crossings vastly outpaced todays. The only difference between then and now was that back then most were single men looking for jobs. Today, the rates have been at net zero for ten years but the entire right is panic stricken. What's changed? Most now are women with children, looking for asylum.
It's painfully obvious the right is worried about losing the great white majority and any hopes of getting into office again.

Deportation of illegals increased during Obama's term, so by your own logic he must be worried about losing the great white majority and any hopes of getting into office again.
Yes deportation increased under Obama. He was called the deporter in chief. You didn't hear him crying, "wall, wall, wall, wall" for years on end. He was just doing his job.
By your own argument, the differences between Obama and Trump only highlight my point. A wall is so important because most on the right can't imagine how a young mother could possibly get her kids and herself over a 30' wall. Everyone knows single male workers will always find a way. The wall is all about stopping women and children.

And what makes it so single male workers will find a way, but women and children won't? Would you get 33% chance of getting past the wall if all three of those people were together? People who get past a wall will get past it.
