But when there is a difference in state/federal minimum wages, the employees are to be paid the higher of the two. Do you understand the true meaning of "state" and when not used in "United States"? The US government system was set up for DE-centralization of power and responsibility so the individual states can legislate for their people better. If you think it'd be easy to set a living wage for the entire country, look up cost of living comparison between, Hawaii, California, Alaska, Louisiana, South Dakota, Wisconsin, or all 50 states if you're so inclined. No links this time, since that isn't conversation, you can look it up yourself.
