There are a lot of new users lately. Most of them are younger teenagers. They do not know, and likely do not care. I have mentioned this to a few of them but they did not heed. If people start calling them out maybe they will get with it.

But I think "reposts" is a lost cause.

All we can do is encourage people to use the sports stream when they post that in the fun stream. And you're right about the repost thing. I think we're stuck with that. I don't care THAT people repost, but lately it seems like people are reposting heavily and I am seeing a lot of repeat in the pages.

What? Sports can't be fun? Grumpy cat must always be posted in the Cat stream? A meme with Trump must ALWAYS be posted in politics? Where do we draw the line?

I think IMGFLIP has gone off the deep end with all this stream business and a lot of users have gone off the deep end protecting all of their useless points to be on some meaningless leaderboard.

Not trying to start an argument, just showing that there are 2 sides to every coin.

Just that there is a separate stream for sports fun. I think the names of the streams may confuse people also. Perhaps "Sports Fun" would have been a better stream name, but I guess if people enjoy sports they figure it is a given that would find them fun. Now I hate sports. I can do hockey, but I'm not a die hard. And you won't see me posting hockey memes.

Well, tell thatto imgflip. They made all these stupid separate streams. The way it all started was the general population here was sick of the ONE stream we originally had being saturated with politics. You had nothing but politics on every page and every thing else got lost in the stuff. So we started asking for a way to FILTER the politics out. Well, they instead made a separate politics stream entirely, and in that process decided to make separate streams for some other things too. NOT what anyone wanted to say the least. The only bright side is we get 2 memes per stream per day. So that is more submissions.

I will say, you would think a sports stream would be a sports fan dream. You can see nothing but sports memes, and be surrounded by other sports fans with out people who despise sports trolling the comments.

All that aside, I don't give a rip personally if I have to scroll past a sports meme. It will not keep me up at night. I don't care for politics though. If this multi-stream format is what it takes to get the undesirable politics out then so be it. If will visit the politics stream when I feel like I want to see the train wreck. Or avoid it if I don't.

Yeah, the Grumpy Cat in the fun stream is a cat meme in the fun stream. Which is where it gets ridiculous. Do we flag those? Or just ignore them? And a meme with a politician is not necessarily a political meme. For example. I made one with Donald Trump making bad coffee, and another with him declaring a law about putting toilet paper on the roll a certain way. NOT politics. AT ALL. So it comes down to using reasonable judgement. If it is a meme featuring grumpy cat making a political joke where does it go?

Also, who is "protecting" their points? They represent nothing more than your activity in comments. Because we all know memes do not actually bring in many points. So that is neither here nor there. I am as active now as I was before they ruined the site with separate streams, though my presence here does see-saw between being very active and being totally absent.
