I watched Tidying Up this weekend and used the folding tips to free up two dresser drawers for my husband to use. It was inspiring, and I'm so glad I watched it! Just watch one episode and see what you think.

In honesty she has actually been watching it.
But I’ve told her an easier way of doing it.
She and I stay in the house with all the nice things we’ve acquired over the years & move the mess makers (KIDS) into the garage ;-).

It's hard completing stuff when weekends are spent shopping and pretty much getting ready for the next week...it took me like 4 months to get the crap out from under my wife's clothesline and into the new shed

We took a week off just to complete some renovations at my old house. We're finally down to the last minor things, but it's been hard. You spend all weekend trying to get those chores done, and then you're exhausted when you go to work on Monday. Vicious cycle.

Problem we have is the house we bought has all 1982 originals, so most of our time and effort has gone into modernizing fixtures like sockets and windows. I had to have my panel upgraded. Lately it's been a matter of fixing things as they break. I'm hoping to finally get the garage organized. Then maybe someday we can actually begin rennovating; the kitchen and bathrooms need it desperately

My old house was built in 1978 I think, so I hear ya on replacing the stuff. It's been a battle for us. The guest bathroom is the only major thing we have left to do, and we may just leave it for a while since we're burned out on everything. It looks much nicer now though. Hopefully it's all worth it for you.

But it is a lot to do. It's a lot of catching up when you have nothing but originals, but at the same time at least we aren't having to fix somebody's shoddy work.
Our old house was built in 1940, but had some updates: newer windows, electrical panel, and the kitchen was fairly new. Overall in decent shape. We redid the living room and spent a lot of time making the yards nice (they were pretty thrashed when we moved in)
We wound up needing to put a new roof on when we sold it

I had to put a new roof on mine too. And I put all new windows and doors. Also replaced the AC unit. There was a big difference on the electricity bill lol.

This house had no AC when we moved in and the windows were so bad that you could feel air coming through like wind. So, we had to get new windows before the AC because what's the point. So then we got solar also to offset running the AC. Needless to say we racked up a little debt, so it will be only "small" projects for the next couple years
