How many is the real question.

According to Border Patrol, at least 6,000 deaths and tens of thousands of people dehydrated and close to death since 1990. Much of the border is like this. Where there is need for barriers, we need to build them. If it was me and I had specific facts that showed a real need for any kind of barrier, I would lay out the facts and let my opponents pound sand. But, this is a case best described by my friend who is a criminal lawyer. When the law is on your side, you pound the law. When the evidence is on your side, pound the evidence. When the law and evidence are not on your side, pound the table. The president is pounding the table.

I'd suggest spending some time near the border, it is a real eye opener, at least it was for me. About 5% of what actually happens is ever reported on.

I had friends who had a timeshare in Rosirito that I shared. And, another owned a lease on a house in Malibu del Sur. I helped set up a mail order skin diving accessory company with a supplier from Ensenada. My brother had Air Force friends who owned a ranch south of Nogales. All of these circumstances have caused me to travel quite a bit in and around Mexico. What eye opening facts do you have to share with me?

I witnessed stuff like that when I lived in Thousand Oaks, Calif. Crime happens everywhere, even in Jerusalem, Mecca. the Vatican and Salt Lake City.

I didn't say crime, but you are correct, CRIME is everywhere. What I specifically referred to is people smuggling and drug smuggling. And not just quarter pound bags of weed, I'm talking about like 10 pounds of heroin and trailers full of people.

My sister was raised in an affluent community that has been labeled America's safest community. She died of a heroin overdose. Last year it experienced a mass shooting. Just because a place is occupied by mostly White people with nice houses and clothes, does not mean it does not have the crimes you speak of. And, the last time I looked smuggling was a crime.

I'm sorry about the loss for your family. We are all shaped and influenced by our experiences. That is why I have only shared my first hand experiences and not the 2nd hand experiences I mentioned about comments up. And just like in a previous job I had, nothing beats preservation of life. That is why I feel the way I do, a torrential river can not be stopped all at once, it has to be slowed before is can dammed completely, where a manageable amount can be allowed to pass. Of course that is water and but the same works with people, and narcotics. Stop the narcotics and your saving lives here. Stop the flow of illegal immigration by walking through the dangerous arrid environments (and in trailers) and lives are saved there. Again, just my point of view built up from the experiences I've been part of.

I have to share something, off subject. About 40-years ago, my Father In Law shared a semi-private room in Los Robles Hospital with an actor whose screen name was Slim Pickins.

Yes. He was a real nice guy. But, the family gave him his privacy. So, he was able to rest.
