Let me explain this. I will try to go slow.
Essential people have to work without pay and wont get paid till the shutdown is over.
Those that aren't essential are furloughed and can claim unemployment benefits after 1 week off.
When the shutdown is over those that were furloughed will get back pay for no work performed.
When the shutdown is over those that were furloughed will have to work overtime to get caught back up.
So pay for work that isn't done. And pay more money (overtime pay) to get the work done that should have been done during the shutdown.
It that clear enough for you yet?

It's like saying don't piss of the husband or he will beat his wife and children … as if the issue is me pissing off the husband and not an abusive f**k that shouldn't be allowed anywhere near wife and children.

I'm not happy, I just don't give a f. My taxes are the same, my services are the same. Am I really supposed to fret over someone getting paid for 3 days of not working when they're already getting paid for hundreds of days of not working?

Keep up with that logic. I am sure you will go far.

Let me summarize your logic.
You don't care about a government shutdown.
You are still going to pay the same taxes.
You now know that the shutdown will cost more for less work done.
Makes a ton of sense.

According to you, the cost is the same for less work. It doesn't bother me because I don't value their work and I know that the output to cost ration is already so off that any small imbalances related to a "shut down" are so insignificant, they're not even worth this conversation. We have had so many shut downs and they are so insignificant that most people can't remember not only when and how long they were, but that they happened at all.
