If the government suddenly turned evil (more evil) why would they continue to use current methods of execution to kill you all off
I've yet to see a dictatorship that refused to shoot a bunch of people in the head (or instead carried it out rather than a gas chamber) because their constitutional equivalency doesn't allow for it.

Once again it seems the elephant in the room never gets addressed. At the same time people are concerned about the governments potential actions of inflicting harm, people are also in massive support for the government having all the means to accomplish it with the worlds biggest military.

Here in England the Military couldn't be capable of nuking the entire nation, rounding up the entire population, napalming all the major cities or reducing the nations infrastructure to ground level..... but the US can do all of that to its own people if it wanted to right now... and everyone supports the capability, apparently.. It's a clear incoherence, like wanting to have guns to protect yourself from the government, yet provide the government with a helicopter with missile capabilities ..

Wrong. First off, they wouldn't be shot in the head, but rather the heart, (a quick death). Also, its because of my distrust of government why it should be standardized, that way people wouldn't die in horrible ways. I don't trust lethal injection for example, for the person can't come back and tell us if it was a gruesome death. So the argument isn't if death penalty is moral or not, but when applying, is it humane as possible. That's compassion.
