We did have food, but what it took to set a full table would be impossible to comprehend by people in this country. How do I explain to a decent Americans about ration cards, bribes, markets with empty shelves, long lines when anything remotely edible was available, going to the neighbors to borrow food - all in a country considered a "superpower".

But most just say that they can do it better or use Scandinavian countries as examples of socialism, even thought they are not socialists and on a completely different population scale than us. Bottom line is socialists see only what they can gain from socialism, never realizing what they loose.

Socialism is very different. Read the website of the Democratic Socialists of America. They want open borders, to control the means of production, and eliminate all private profit.
