We already live under the tyranny of the minority. As progressive as America may have been at the time we do not live in a true democracy by an oligarchy. If most people truly understood this they would vehemently oppose it. Besides it's totally contradictory to believe we can vote in our "reps" by a simple majority but somehow we don't have the wherewithal to vote directly on the issues themselves. If people are not supporting DD they either don't understand what it is or to put it politely they have conflicting interests. DD not only can work but is up and running in to various degrees in several prosperous countries. Besides it's not like there would be zero protections for the minority. We would have a constitution much like we do now. In fact most DD advocates propose working within the system using the existing constitution and voting in candidates who are running on a DD platform. We would then tell our reps how to vote then they would like an administer vote in congress exactly what the simple majority tell them to.
Really, we're hashing out seriously important issues and you're worried about paragraphs??? There's a label for people who do this, but I'm sure you can figure it out without me even having to stay it.
