The problem with both sides of this argument is that the sample size is tiny AND it can't possible be known if the effects could be scaled to a larger size. Think drug trials.
A lot of them show tremendous promise on a subset and then when deployed more widely are shown to be dangerous and have to be pulled off the shelf.
Main point. Figures don't lie but liars figure.
