I have had liberals demand I never coment on their comments. Some just can't handle being contradicted, at all. It ruins their echo chamber. But some people (on either side) can't handle opposing oppinions (or in some cases, facts that contradict their chosen narative).
It okay, and even necessary in our society, to have divergent oppinions. Often though, people are so wrapped up in their own opinion that all they can do is resort to name calling and telling the other side to shut up.
Most people discuss topics to learn and grow, most people argue to win. I am even guilty of it from time to time.

In my experience, Octavia is usually fairly reasonable. I usually disagree with him thouroughly, but he debates rationally (which I enjoy) and will usually admit when you've made a valid point. Niether of us ever "wins" a debate, because some details are a matter of oppinion. But the discussionsdo help us to reevaluate our positions (never a complete flip, but closer to middle ground).
I also think it's important to point out that respecting someone and agreeing with them are two separate things. There are people on this site who I typically agree with, but don't respect. There are also people here who I disagree with, buy do respect.

When liberals leave public places because they can't handle differing opinions, it's not the fault of the people that are left that the place has become an echo chamber.
