I think we all know he has changed his mind. I also think it is important that politicians change views and policies with the time. For me, the point is that if we focused on issues over partisanship, we'd agree more.
Nothing about this is “misleading”. The quote is accurate. There is quite a bit more that Reid said during this speech, and and others. The fact that he later changed his stance isn’t relevant. The Dems just switched sides on the issue when they realized they could get more votes from the anti-immigration crowd and illegal immigrants themselves.
