Don't know, but as you comment in other's memes you gain upvotes and that means points. The top leaders on the board are prolific commenters, always thanking those that comment in their memes and that earns them even more points. When I returned to Imgflip (past user name is my secret) I spent most of my time commenting and quickly moved up through the first several levels. I have since gotten very busy with life and spent less time here and because of it, my increases have gone almost to nothing. But remember, points don't matter. You can't spend them on anything until you hit five million points. Then you can trade them in on you own casino with blackjack and hookers.
