Lots of sparrows hanging out at Chipoltle too. Song birds don't have a sense of smell, so they don't mind spicy food. This helps when deterring squirrels from bird feeders, who definitely get the message.
Birds of prey have a keen sense of smell though. They can even smell a buried animal. I know, after a friend's cat died and was buried, a falcon stayed near the grave for a while before moving on. :-)
