Two Different Views Only Reveal The Truth When Viewed As A Whole

Republicans : All the scientists are wrong. CO2 is not going to warm the planet. We're not going to lose thousands or millions of square miles of land to sea level rise. We should risk millions of lives. We should risk national or global food shortages. These risks do not deserve any attention. We should continue to burn old sun energy (coal, oil) and skip collecting sun energy (solar, wind, hydro). That's not seeing truth. That is lying to yourself and everyone else in order to make a buck.

So you have pointed out the circle, where is the square?

Democrats refuse to label Antifa as fascists or terrorists. Democrats have been untruthful about the costs of getting healthcare for all.

Why don't you make me look? Name a thing or two that Democrats are not truthful about and I'll look into it.

I feel they are all pushing their own agendas and not looking out for their constituents. Term limits all around, works for the office of the president, why not have term limits for every elected position?

There are other ways of doing government in a democratic way.
For instance, congress makes laws. This idea is being tried already. Randomly select 100 people that make a representative group of the population, opt out if you want to, you get paid if you participate. Give them responsibility for 2 years to produce policies and solutions to problems in the country. Give them access to experts and scientists in the fields to inform good decision making.

This hypothetical scenario puts an un-powerful body of citizens-from-all-walks-of-life into a congress-like position in order to write policies and laws. Congress and the president would still have to enact policies and laws. This situation, at the beginning, should remove most of the distaste the population would have against selecting the first 100 people in the phone book to run the country. It has been shown that if you give people this responsibility, they act responsibly.

However, if you are living in the United States, that is a Republic with elements of Democracy spread throughout it. Certain aspects of a Republic are more appealing to me over a true Democracy. It was amazing how many results there are if you search for Republic vs Democracy, I was going to put a link in this, but with so many different good explainations, just putting one would do no justice. Ended up down a rabbit hole and took a while to respond here.

Republic. I like the sound of the word. It means people can live free, talk free, go or come, buy or sell, be drunk or sober, however they choose. Some words give you a feeling. Republic is one of those words that makes me tight in the throat; the same tightness a man gets when his baby takes his first step or his first baby shaves and makes his first sound like a man. Some words can give you a feeling that make your heart warm. Republic is one of those words.
