First of all, I have called you, personally, exactly zero names. I'm not attacking you; you just assumed I am, and got all defensive. Geez, and you call US snowflakes...

Second, I did not say I was offended. I said your meme was offensive. There IS a difference. If it offended me, that's something I need to work out with you on a personal level. On the other hand, this takes stereotypical swipes at entire groups of people in a derogatory way. That's offensive, in general.

I'm not calling you names. I'm not offended. And I'm certainly not annoyed, hurt, or threatened by you. I'm just pointing out the obvious. You want to keep propagating offensive tropes to support your political ideas, fine. You're just helping Democrats win.

Why would you not stand behind your own words? I created this meme and I stand by the points this satire brings up. You posted about racism and misogyny but are claiming that you're not trying to call me a racist or misogynist.

And why would you refer to something as offensive if you claim not to be offended by it? What is this leftist habit of getting offended on behalf of other people? My Muslim friends laughed at this meme, and I had no problem sharing it with them because only the people who support this vile woman and the people who wish to ignore the treatment of women in Islamic countries would have a problem with this - and I have no problem offending either of those two groups of people.

However, you posted this in a public forum, not just among friends who understand your sense of humor. If you look at this through the lens of a Muslim woman who doesn't know you and is actively fighting these stereotypes (for example, the vast majority of Muslim women in the US), I hope you can see how she might find this insulting.

You don't have to be a racist, sexist, or Islamophobe to say something racist, sexist, or Islamophobic. Likewise, you don't have to be offended to recognize something is offensive.

This was not something that needed to be viewed in context of me or my sense of humor. I made this for both humor and to provoke thought and discussion … and in this time of overly PC culture, for some people unwilling to think about it, it merely served to provoke.

Sure I got more likes for my cat reaching the Christmas tree meme, but I think I got a better discussion from this one, both here and on FB. I think once people really thought about it and discussed it, they realized it was really a satire on how Islam treats women and on how foolish it is to have someone promote women's rights and Islam on the same stage. You don't generate these types of epiphanies without also getting called names by the PC police.

You have clearly illustrated that you are an intelligent person, and I would love to have discussions with you in the future that don't start off so cantankerously. Just please understand that in the context of memes, I am purposely provocative and purposely un-PC, and all I care to discuss are the topics I bring up and not the feelings those topics may have hurt.

This absolutely could have started on a better note. Looking forward to future discussions.
