He means that people who like the prequels have a different taste from people who like Disney. Sure, the prequels were bad objectively, but people enjoy it. A movie might be utter garbage, but it can still gain a following because it's enjoyably bad.
The Room, by Tommy Wiseau, is considered a movie so bad it's good, and people see the prequels as being so bad, they're good. Just because a movie is objectively awful doesn't mean it has charm which appeals to some people. You might find nothing in the prequels, but I do.
