Tips for Newbies Week, 10/3 -10/10: a Deadbox Prime event (his first) What helped you when you were new? What would you pass on?

I would say upvote every meme and comment that you reply to. Try to reply to every comment your memes get. When I started, I upvoted the comments to my memes, but didn’t reply because I thought it would look like I was bumping my meme up in the rankings, kind of like on a bulletin board site. It doesn’t work like that here and replies are welcome! :-)

imgflip can be (for me at least) somewhat addictive. I come here and keep coming back for the laughs. I take breaks once in a while but can't seem to stay away for too long.

I always upvote comments to my memes, and try to add comment memes. You get points for these, and getting into a social back and forth with one or more users is fun!

#1 tip I can give is always find a way to add meaningful captions to images you intend to submit. If you don't add captions or put a period or letters set to zero font size, your submission might not get featured in the first place. If one like that does feature, the mods might pull it back to submitted status if it reaches the home (Hot) pages.

I have a routine. I check the hot memes (often to see how my memes are doing, honestly!), check notifications and reply, then I have a short list of people's I check and respond to. These are people whose memes I respond to most, and aren't all top leaders. Then I check latest, and hopefully somewhere in all that come up with some submissions.

don't comment on memes that are at least a month or two old like I am. It's annoying.
