Have you ever studied the ancient German runic language? That sig (or symbol) in runic language represents the sun, though down through the ages it evolved into the representation for the letter "s" as is familar to Germanic-speaking people, and eventually turned into our basic letter "s" among those that speak English (the modern form of English being heavily derived from German). Today the original is used as a stylized way to use the "s" letter as it is bolder and stands out. So while some may be eager to attach a nazi connection to the rune/letter, it is not that at all. Martin Luther (of the Christian schism renown) used the original runic form in many of his letters. The nazis weren't the first, nor will they be the last.
