I finally bought them their own hair brushes, and they are broken or lost. Will I ever have smooth hair again? LOL

are there any OTHER types of pens (other than INK) ? I used to work at a print shop years ago in a major city where it was predominantly African American. I never heard the term "inkpen" until I worked there. The black folks used the term exclusively. I think it's a cultural term. Never heard a white person use the term. I asked a black person if there was another type of pen and they said "yeah you know, like a safety pin?" And I was like...."but that's a PIN not a PEN." They looked dumbfounded.

LOL!
I never heard them called anything else. In fact, only after reading comments on this meme did I ever know it was a controversey (albeit a minor one!) So funny!

Are you from the south? A quick google search yielded an explanation relating that Southerners say "pin" and "pen" the same so to distinguish one from another they add "ink" to pen. Imagine the confusion asking for tin pins and getting ten pens!

I am a southern gal! LOL! And yes, they do sound the same when we say either word. I lived in Colorado for a few years, and none of my co workers or customers could understand a word I said for the first year. Then my accent lost it's edge and I became easier to understand.

Sorry, it’s just one of those phrases that irk me. Like when someone says “ax” instead of ask... X p

I never paid attention before, but I bet I will notice now what others say. I have never heard them called anything else, but I may have not been paying attention! LOL!

Never question yourself.. at least not based on a conversation you have online!

Funny though. Today I help up an ink pen and asked my kids what it was. They said simultaneously, "A pen". Same with my husband. They couldn't figure out why I was doubled over laughing! LOL!

LOL.... you know someone else commented similar. Is this a strange thing to call them? Are people giggling at me all over my real life? LOL!

I've heard it before. I think it just stands out to me cause it's not a common expression in my area. I've heard it from people in the midwest and from people in the south.

I have never heard them called anything else! Though now that you mention it when I lived in Colorado they never called them that! But again, they were already laughing at my southern accent! LOL!

I am fascinated by accents and different expressions for things. I'm from New England and never felt like I had an accent but when I moved to the midwest for college people were constantly noting the way I said things "different" or "funny" or in the case of carbonated beverages, just "wrong". I always called it soda but there it was pop and when I finally got used to calling it pop I moved back east and had to remember to call it soda again

I dared asked where to buy boiled peanuts (or bawld paynuts if I say it with an accent) near Christmas time. They looked at me like I was from another planet.

I've never had them so I can't understand the appeal and I'm not sure if they always come canned or if canned is hated by all who actually like the snack but they do sell canned ones at our local Walmart

I guess the could be a side dish. Though mostly just a snack. I like to chew the shells and all.

Do you make them yourself? Like is there a recipe for boiled peanuts or a specific way of cooking them?

Ran out of thread down there... My husband has done them a time or two. You have to soak them in heavily salted water for about 8 hours, then boil them for about 3 hours. It's time consuming.
