Look I’m no fan of the confederates or the what they stood for but what my point is that our history shouldn’t be dismissed that easily and white washed just because someone doesn’t like it. Maybe you’re right maybe it does belong in a museum but it’s not and it should be learned from no matter where it is, that is the point of learning from ones and others transgressions no? My fear is where does it end? Who’s to say that a few decades from now a statue of Obama is about to be torn down because the locals don’t like the message he stood for, does that make it right? Places and neighborhoods change over time as well as sentiments in those areas, so does that mean that you cater to the minority and tear down a historical figure no matter how benevolent he was to many?
