Let's back this down a bit, we do have common ground, people should be civil and as I have stated before plenty of officers make mistakes and are charged and found guilty. The points where we differ are on shoot to kill, anyone that has ever had to defend themselves to include me knows if you shoot you should expect to kill your opponent. That doesn't change just because your weapon, skills and training are better than the other persons, if it was any other way we would be going to an officers funeral. What you might not understand is the higher the crime in an area the quicker you have to decide to shoot or be a victim. The lower the crime in an area the less training the officer might have. That is true for any service, a big city firefighter has to have better equipment and training than a volunteer in a small town (although the volunteer is well trained). The hard truth is Americans are a dangerous people, drive down a busy street and you will see what I mean, they could careless who is hurt because they run a light while putting on makeup and texting. Officers are expected to be polite when dealing with these types of people and move from that call to a high crime area after first stopping to deliver a baby and serving a family and eviction notice. The swings of emotions do not help keep anyone strong, focused or help when the next call that comes in is shots fired, use caution. If you really want to help keep people safer vote republican and demand more officers not less, then you can have additional time, less stress and less accidents. Until then, stop looking for problems that are not problems, over 100000 officers a day deal with the worst people imaginable and cause them no harm. More people will die in a single day by a bad driver than shot by the police in years.
If you really want to help save people, drive them to where they need to be or better yet join the police and try to help change the perception that the police are above the law.
