Since the 1960's they claimed that products and advertising for alcohol was aimed at our nation's youth. The late 60's gave us Strawberry Hill, but by the 80's, wine coolers were all of the rage.
I know kids were used in print ads for cigarettes back before WWII, but, personally, I don't ever recall seeing a young person in any tobacco or alcohol advertisement. As a kid, I could buy cigarettes for my folks, but I couldn't buy alcohol. Didn't try until I turned 18, when it was usually legal, depending on if I went a few miles north, over the state line.
