Hey, Paramount announced TWO more Star Trek movies. One might be a Tarantino film. That part is still rumored, though.

Almost everything I've submitted lately has evolved from our back and forths...directly or indirectly. I just submitted this last Aliens Week entry which was your idea. Piggyback Mountain is one of my all-time favorite submissions and that was your idea. Gorn To Be Wild was the result of one of our back and forths and may never have been submitted without you suggesting it. Thanks for all the fantastic ideas! :)

bt, some of your best sh!t is in the comments. There's probably so MUCH good material you lose track. But as an outside observer, I can tell you. just ask yourself if your comment responses - to anyone could possibly be Hot List material. I think most are, from what I've seen. Why not let them do double duty, like I did with the Gorn poster? I don't need to get hits- I'm already one of the most popular memers 'of all time' after only 4 months. Now I just wanna have fun, like Cindy Lauper. Except with chicks - not dudes.

Wait, where the Frakes was I?

Oh yeah: You are putting out zillions of *incredible* memes, although you seem to limit some top notch sh!t only to responses. There is a LIFETIME of front page memes in your responses. And it's easy for someone like me to point them out. That's all I do, is point out what makes me wanna spew my drink. Easy enough.

I am a major fan of the ones you just mentioned and many others. Where the heck is "Gettin' Piggy With It"? You've still got a few Alien hours to get that b!tch out. But not for hits, just for kicks! :-)

You've had a major impact on my output also. Instead of hitting the text limit again, I'll leave it at that for now.

But I will THANK YOU AGAIN for every one of your influences - from my first weeks in February up until now. You have shaped my output more than anyone else on the site. And that's not even including the encyclopedic text responses. But yes, them too.

Gotta run though. I'm in a Rush.

Btw, Hemispheres is playing now (after 2122) and the woman who said Rush was being blasted too loud is waiting for me.

Wow, thanks so much! I don't even know how to respond. I kind of think of this place like a crossword puzzle. I see a clue, think about it and sometimes an answer comes to me. It is really rewarding when I feel like all the pieces just come together and I come up with a response I really like that works on more than one level. So many times the ones I like best don't elicit a response or appear to fall on deaf ears. To know that there is at least one person out there that "gets" me is priceless to me. Thank you so much for the inspiration, trivia, Star Trek, ideas etc. etc. ad nauseam. Totally brain farted on get Piggy with it, but I'll look for an opportunity to use it...I hope you cranked The Trees...one of my favorite songs! :)

reply
1 up, 1 reply
I have to admit, you got me there. I don't think I've seen all of the animated series (TAS) - or even remember what I have seen.

But if you're a Sulu fan (and who isn't) here is something you will definitely enjoy. It's a guy who wrote for Star Trek (and a zillion other things - as you will see). Too many things about this clip to even start, but after 24 minutes of amazing Trek history, he presents HIS award-winning Sulu episode for Star Trek: Phase II/New Voyages.

When this guy stopped talking, I wanted MORE. And then, we get George Takei, Captain Sulu.

Satisfaction Guaranteed.

Enjoy - whenever you can find the time! :-)

I never really got into the animated series (the dialogue sounded like everyone was on ludes), but I do remember one episode where Captain Kirk told Sulu he was the most scrutable man he knew (which sent me scrambling for a dictionary). Sounds like Shat is inscrutable. Looking forward to finding time to watch Captain Sulu :)
reply
1 up, 1 reply
I just looked up scrutable also. Who would have thought?

Takei demanded his own ship as s condition for doing Star Trek VI. After all those years at navigation, he wanted some prestige. They caved and he got The Excelsior, I think. But it was only a brief part. Still, It was nice to see him get some respect from the producers, finally.

It's the Phase II/New Voyages episode. BUT it has an incredible intro by the guy who made it. He pitched a Captain Sulu series to the network in the 1970's, as he will explain. Elements of it are contained in the episode.

Btw, this guy may have EARNED the right to call himself Mr. Sci-Fi.

The intro alone is worth it, but the episode "World Enough And Time" is icing on the cake. I believe Sulu was a Lt. Commander when *something happens* and he re-appears 30 years later. You will also meet his daughter in this episode.

No more spoilers, though! :-)
reply

You can see from his outfit, he's not actually in "command" of any Star Fleet entities. But the spirit of the Captain Sulu series lives on in this episode.

Mind blown...it's too noisy in here so I'll have to watch the whole thing later, but I get the gist and how did Carol and Andrea Martin end up in the same skit? Where on earth did this come from? I certainly don't remember this from The Carol Burnett Show (or SCTV). Once again you've floored me...can't wait to get home and hear the whole thing!!! :)

From the Internet:

The Carol Burnett Show had a very brief revival in 1991 that only lasted for 2 months... this Gender Swap Star Trek Parody that starred Carol as Kirk, Andrea Martin as Spock and Richard Kind as a Klingon who have an encounter with the Estrogenus 7 anomaly.
reply

I had no idea...were Tim, Harvey or Vicki in it
reply
1 up, 1 reply
I didn't know about the 'revival' either. This is the only skit I've seen of it so I'm not sure who the cast members were.

But if it only lasted 2 months, I don't think the old crew was involved.

Just guessing, though. :-)

The skit reminded me of a season three snl skit (The Planet Of The Men Vs. The Planet Of The Women). Hugh Hefner was in it and the men were in a cigar shaped ship which got stuck in the donut shaped ship of the women ( see "how baby Doomsday Machines are made).

I must have missed that one - but the imagery matches Baby Dooms for sure!

I saw William Shatner at a few conventions many years ago.

I was surprised to see him behave like his 'Get a life' skit on SNL. He even had a horse give birth without his knowledge. An audience member notified him, just like the skit.

And he meant it when he told people it was only a TV show and not to take it so seriously. He must have written the SNL skit.

The 'Get a life' skit is not available on YouTube for copyright reasons. Although many other skits are, which may be due more to The Shat than SNL.

Also saw Partick Stewart with The Shat when 'Generations' came out.

There's a lot of fans out there. I worked with a guy who wanted to name his daughter Spock, but his wife refused. She finally agreed to name her after Tasha Yar's sister, Ishara.

And I knew a guy who had a few beers with Scotty. That must have been wild!

One day I'll tell you how I got William Shatner to stop performing and yell at me in front of everybody. Wow - it was great!

Oh, almost forgot: he shook my hand and said hello. But not then. :-)
reply

Wow! That's all pretty amazing!...Look forward to hearing about The Shat yelling. :)

OK, here it is. Sorry about the delay.

I went to a convention in the early 90's and he was onstage doing his thing. He was prancing around being himself, relating interesting behind-the-scenes stories and jokes.

People were taking pictures, and I left my seat to get a good shot. I went to about the third row and waited for a good photo op. Apparently he didn't like the idea and avoided it for a looong time. And then even more time passed with him avoiding (only) my photo op.Eventually he stopped his performance and came over to the front by me to be photographed. And he yells, "There, are you happy now?"

I was a kind of shocked at the situation - I went back to my seat and was like WTF? What just happened? It was an adrenaline inducing encounter. Not really 'proud' to be yelled at by Shat, but what the heck.

If I remember correctly - and I may NOT, later at the meet and greet I asked if he remembered me. He said, "Yes" and was not very happy about it.

Not sure what was going on in his head at the time I wanted a picture, but I forgave him in my mind instantly. Captain James T. Kirk spoke directly to me and I was almost tingling from the adrenaline rush. I got my money's worth and a bonus encounter that most people never do.

And there it is. That's the story of Bill Shat, shi!ting on me! :-)
