By the way, my son (who is now 20) never acted like this. He would get in hollering matches with his dad (but that's another story that's not completely his fault), but never with me. When his dad asked him why he never did that with me, my sweet little child said, "I'm scared of Mom. She'd probably kill me... as in literally kill me." LMAO I love that little turd. *getting teary-eyed* lol :-)

I was afraid of my mother too. She used to punish me with scalding hot water then moved on to electrical appliances and pins under my fingernails. I remember severe punishments but I don't remember the crimes that warranted them.

What?! To be clear, I didn't "abuse" my kid. I just followed through on discipline, like taking away privileges or a pop on the butt. I never, never did anything like that. Wow, apes. I'm so sorry to hear that. :-( No one deserves that. *hugs*

Yeah. I was cursed with a mental case for a mother. I won't go into details but by the time I was 10 I had become quite familiar with the smell of my own skin cooking. Probably why I developed a sense of humour as a coping mechanism.

That's horrible.

And you do have a great sense of humor. One of my favorites. :-)

It moulds a person's outlook on life doesn't it.

It really does. Funny too, I notice most of the most interesting and funny people I know suffered in some kind of difficult environment. It's as if the pain and suffering somehow brings out these qualities.

Exactly. I mean, just look at Robin Williams.

Man I'm very sorry to hear that. I can't imagine. Wish I could do something to undo that pain for you. My heart goes out to anyone who suffers from abuse.

Direct quote from my play book:

"By all means, move out when you're 18. Get a job, pay rent, pay card insurance. Do all of that adult stuff. Oh, you're gonna finance your lifestyle with your job at McDonald's? Let's break that down, shall we?"

And yes, my child (now 19 and taking care of her business on her own) never acted like that either. She was afraid of "the look." That same look thatI gave the boys while I was giving my daddy speech. The onewhee I told them I havea shotgun, a shovel, 50 acres, and a baf case of PTSD. I can get away with anything.

When the only questions being asked are easily answered, it's an easily made misconception.

I think with age comes humility. I'm 36 and sometimes I look back onto when I was in my teens and I have to laugh at how cocky and full of myself I was. When you've spent several years in the real world, working to make a living and pay your bills, you begin to realize that you don't know shit about shit.
