They moved the tractor before I got a pic of it :(

I'd only be a mod if they paid me lol, well.... I guess it might be worth it to fix this place for free if it can be fixed. You'd definitely see a huge change in what features first, getting a meme to even feature at all would be something people have to deserve.

Hey bud. Sir_Unknown/Boris/Father_Time here. I'd like to know if you would ever be down to Photoshop some stuff for me if I need it. Thanks get back to me when you can. :)

Sure, wouldn't mind doing that for ya at all. I haven't felt like making anything even for other sites recently because all my creative drive has switched into author mode and I've been writing like crazy. I've always enjoyed making templates for people though so if you hit me with an idea I'll give it a shot when I can :)

Thanks! Good luck on writing your book. Appreciate the help.

Don't do it, or at least stop trying.

Too many names to mention. How many have deleted, only to regret it the next day.... How many came back and are in the shadows.

We may disagree, maybe you don't want to hear my crazy talk. Reposts are not what's wrong with imgflip, there is no repost oppression. I think we agree there is no stopping them. A wise memer once said something like, people either already know it's a repost, or they don't. There's no point in pointing it out. Is it really worth your time on imgflip to be that guy?

There's room for every user at the table. Time for Feast Week, if you remember that idea. OC and Reposters alike and those who love them. I'm here for the fun bro, it can be again.

I've tried at least 10 times, never really thought about the part in the terms that says anything we submit on here is property of the site before that. Guess I could delete each meme one at a time lol, that would only take about a month...

Yeah, I've deleted a bunch of my memes. That's why I only have like a 59% feature rate. lol. There's a few users on here that do that. Socrates and Platypus_Hex does it.

I've just given up hoping this place will ever be like it was again. I don't think what I submit here is appreciated because the exact same thing will do a lot better at other places. So I've moved on and have only been coming here to talk to John for the most part. The only person that commented here asking me not to delete is somebody that I'm sure thinks they are the reason for it. When honestly he's just an example of what is wrong with this site. If you can't make people not like somebodies memes try to make people not like the person kind of games. There are a lot more people here now that upvote the person not the meme and I don't want votes because I'm nice to people most of the time, "or used to be lol"

I've gone back to writing during my free time, I haven't even been photoshopping for contests recently. Writing a book is hard because there is no way to know if what you have made so far is good or not. You don't want to post anything or share it with people before it's finished and copyrighted because they will steal your idea if it's decent enough. It's a lot of work that takes a lot of time and it's hard not to doubt your abilities sometimes. I have been going nonstop though I have this story in my head and I have to get it written down no matter how good it ends up being. Maybe someday memes will be fun for me again, but right now my passion has returned for something I've spent most of my life trying to perfect...

Maybe I didn’t say not to delete on this meme but I know for a fact I told you (begged) you not to delete your account and just leave it so we could enjoy your memes as a memory lane kind of experience :)

That's true, I didn't mean in any way to imply I don't think of you as one of the best things about me finding this site. You and John being the only two people I wrote right before finding out my account can't be deleted...

I’m mostly picking on you because you break my heart lol. I maybe wrong but I think you became my 1st img friend ( the guy I shared my personal life with) Just so you know it cost me a $100 to have your account locked but it was worth it :)

I want my cut of that money lmao!! We've been friends a long time on here, shared things that people don't just tell everybody. Just because I'm not on here doesn't mean I planned to lose contact with ya ;)

You need to talk to the mods I gave them my last dime for that contract lol.

Good to hear :)

I think my biggest accomplishment on this site is the friends I've made. You aren't the only person to tell me I was their first imgflip friend and that means a lot to me. I used to spend a ton of time on the latest pages and if I saw somebody with skills I commented on their stuff. It's amazing how those first comments we ever get stick with us. John was the first to comment on my stuff, then Invicta noticed me and they both spent time giving me advice. I may never have stuck with this if not for those two people. I've tried to do the same when I meet new people with skills that just need some fine tuning.

I just haven't met many recently that don't know everything already. I think Damon_Knife is the only one in a long time. Part of the reason I am sure is I don't spend the time here I used to. A lot of it though is because of all the "new" users that somehow make the front page constantly after a week or two without needing any advice.

I've never tried to hold info back that could help another user do better. It just seems to me that nobody really cares about the history of memes anymore. I used to get asked questions all the time by people that actually cared and wanted to be better meme makers. That was the only way to become popular here back when the majority of users voted based on skill only. We didn't need the mods to do anything because the users were very serious about what they upvoted and what they didn't.

Imgflip has lost the ability to attract good new users, because of the ones that cheat and manipulate the system or other users to make it appear their memes are good. So we get somebody that is actually new with raw talent, they make some good stuff but nobody notices since they aren't in the "popular" circle. So they either find another site or try to join the crowd that upvotes each other no matter what. So they never feel the need to get better at making memes, that only matters on a site where you don't get votes without earning them.

Every person that upvote people for any reason other than how good their memes are, is responsible for the overall quality of the memes and meme makers dropping considerably. Basically over time those that couldn't compete based on talent have made talent no longer part of the competition. The one thing I feel could save this place is if everybody only voted based on talent without even looking at who made it. I don't see that happening...

I wouldn't regret it simply because I care more about what I am working on than what I've done already. I don't have a choice though they won't let me delete my account. It does have an awful lot of creations and templates attached to it.

I was going to make a new one to talk to people I like with, I just didn't plan on putting any new material on here again. I have other user names on other sites, plenty of places to post whatever I want, I just play around here when I'm bored now ;)

They literaly won't let you? I wasn't sure what you meant earlier.
Others would regret it, your body of work gone. Forcing yourself to persist will only make yourself resent it ever more, so just leave the account be and come back when or if you're so inspired.

I was gonna suggest that, another account with a different approach or purpose. I invent new personas for myself, letting the character (caricatures of, really) shape what I do.

Nope, trust me I tried lol. I'm pretty much over it, have just lost some respect for the site is all. If you'd only been around to see how it used to be here. I used to think it was the site that was great and did all I could to promote it. Now as I've watched so many friends and talented people bail and realized it was those people I should have been respecting not the site. The only reason I come here is for those that are left.

That's not true completely, there are some new users with potential and my love of memes makes me want to share what I know. Nobody starts out great at this. Sure we now have new users that miraculously make the 7 day board and stay there somehow. I'm done calling out alt users who upvote themselves though. If the people here can't figure out they are being played... well.. they deserve to be played. I had a meme get over 600 upvotes the other day on another site. I don't need to be loved here to know my work is appreciated.

As far as making another account, my work is rather unique and people would know it's me eventually. There aren't any new users that can photoshop like I do. It took years for me to reach this point. The only users here I consider better than myself at photoshopping is clinkster. He was doing it long before me and inspired me to get better at it. Now I've won photoshop contests on a site that is ranked in the top 15 of the funniest sites on the internet.

I don't want to sound like I'm bragging or think I am the best meme maker in the world. I'm always learning and trying to better myself. I just had to go to other sites to find a challenge. I know the game here and how to play it, only I've already done it and don't feel the need to kiss ass in order for my memes to do good. I don't care how anything I post here does, I'm after bigger audiences and harder challenges.

Nobody should let how their memes do here be the judge of how good they are. Every single person that falls in love with this art form has the ability to become great at it. It takes time, people may be able to start out here and do amazing right off the bat. That doesn't mean they know how to truly create anything spectacular. I try for it and still fail myself.

Anyway my ass is crashing out. Peace all over ya ;)

I'm not the only one it's happened to. Does make sense that the site would want to protect itself from users with a ton of content on here deleting around the same time. My comments on other peoples memes would remain. But my 1800 submissions and all the comments on them would be gone forever.

I'm glad I got to the point where I stopped caring about this site. I used to keep a lot of my opinions to myself, not wanting to anger people into not voting for my stuff. Not caring about what anybody thinks other than the people I consider friends is very freeing. Nobody here knows my other user names on other sites, like today I watched a meme explode on reddit while typing my butt off trying to explain what the word truth means lmao!

I started here a month before the hack, in fact it happened the very first time I ever got two memes on the front page and hit the top of the 7 day board. They deleted my two memes on the front page and the one I also had on the second. I lost all the points from those memes and the comments on them. 40,000 points gone off the 7 day board just like that.

I miss the comment chains we used to have more than anything. A lot more people were online at once and replied back and forth very quickly. Reading the comments on the front page memes was better than the memes themselves in most cases. It was an environment for creativity unlike any other I have seen. I don't see how it would be possible to ever get that back...

Sorry, my tablet's been freezing up as I type, so I hit post because I thought it was gone, and it did. I had to redo one meme comment three times before because it froze then bounced me off.

Things tend to seem dazzling once we find our footing, and stale once we've grown into it. Think of your fave food dish. Now eat it everyday. Won't seem so great after a few weeks.

Nor sure how that is possible, although you can always abandon the account.

Been here since 2016 under a different name, and from what I've heard, the front page was full of silly hs student memes, 2015 improved somewhat but witnessed the great hack, 2016 saw the invasion of the trump bot trolls wars... - the usual "grass is greener on the sepia toned side"... I've been telling folks since the 90s that these are the good ol' days, we just don't realize it till a decade too late.

The site continues to make upgrades. I tried a couple of others before this, and crappy black bordered white one font type unmovable captions just don't compare. Yeah, we join something, feel like outsiders staring from the corners, get in with a crowd, turns out many depart like 80% do in a year, newbs have no respect for our self annointed greatness, and our hustling for greatness amonst the legends was for naught. I hardly submit memes, and to me points are just for countering downvote crippling. I reinvent myself and wander into new corners (using different browsers even for the illusion of new), and do my thing.

Spent 3 yrs as Emperor Asshole on another site (literally was crowned that), only to get ousted because of a schizoid fatal and her little army of guys who can't get laid, and my wall of texts and getting voted as best forum participant two years running meant nothing. Yay, my throne amongst the invisble dregs too scared to walk outside has crumbled. Thank goodness for valerian.

The point of my babbling is that this all matters only as much as we allow ourselves to pretend it does. The site, mods, memers, fanboys, trolls - they don't owe us anything. This is free, and they could have left it as basic as the rest. Meme threads, fun, debate, flame wars - the mods aren't here to coddle our every step. How many messages they get a day, flags they have to review, memes they have to approve? And all we need do to show our gratitude is complain about some none issue (you've seen Swiggy's rants about Mod persecution?). I mean this with sites in general. No one is forcing us to use their free service. Whatever.

Anyways, thing is we put too much emphasis on irrelevent goals while what really matters is already right in front of us. One day it won't be.

Ah I see what happened now, let me try and do your reply justice here. I agree with a lot of what you said. Except that the site does make money off of the ads, which without memes to draw views to their pages would not pay them squat. It simply seems logical to me that in that kind of situation you would care about how good the content is on those pages. Maybe even support the users who create good original content and discourage things like reposts and people having 20 accounts to upvote their stuff with.

I found reddit and everything changed. Imgflip was my world for a long time, it's only one little world however, once you've started to explore the entire universe that is reddit, the world of imgflip seems incredibly when I look back at it.

I think that by trying to encourage people to not repost and upvote memes to the front pages based on how good they are. I was trying to get the world I was comfortable with to grow big enough that I no longer felt I had outgrown it.

It simply can't compete, I make a star wars meme there is a subreddit just for those filled with people who love star wars memes, same for star trek or anything I guess I've barely scratched the surface. I like being anonymous over there and open about everything over here. I completely get what you are saying about spreading things around that way.

My only issue with the mods here is that they don't enforce their own terms. The mods on reddit and other sites interact with you. They care very much about what people post, in fact you have to earn good karma to even be able to post on a lot of them at all. If those mods on a meme site that has millions of people interacting can do it, it's hard to believe it is that hard to accomplish it on a small site like this one, is all I'm saying ;)
