I live in a city, but the county is mostly farm country. Still, I see more parents here keeping a close watch on their kids, taking an active part in their lives. My youngest girl can't be home much as she's on the road most of the month (truck driver) but Grandpa is there to take a closer rein on her evil little girls. (ages 11, 13, & 16) I do things with them that my daughter would love to do. I missed out a lot on my own kids growing up because I always had to work, and missed a lot of things. Now, I attend the evil's concerts, awards ceremonies (yes, they have won several over the years) and sports. This weekend, I watched ELG#3's soccer game (the kid is a power kicker) and yesterday, spent time with ELG#2 when she went to a birthday party to make sure she didn't get out of line. Having an adult take interest in kids is important in their development, and I am not afraid to correct them if needed.
