Bind them in the darkness?

Careful, someone might flag it as NSFW. ;-p

So what the hell is wrong with this one?

Maybe it did actually get featured, but then got troll bombed back to submitted before you noticed?

this is a masterpiece - should be worth a retry.
maybe with a more legible caption.
And - important - 4 lines of caption matching the scansion.

Funny, I was actually planning to do just that. I had a few that I wanted to renovate and submit again. Glad someone else thinks it's worth a do over!

I was just trying my hand at it and came up with sth like this

so u can see what I mean with the matching caption and readability
It's too hard to get 4 lines within a single textbox (and getting the breaks right at that)
so it takes two textboxes

I look back at all these little details and it surprises me at how we pick up on all these little things that seem innocent enough, but really add up making a meme be really good or just kind of okay. New people are always asking the older users how to make good memes or how to get more views, and it's stuff like this that can really go a long way, but is also really just learned from experience.

yes - me too.
I'm considering caption details far more than in my early memes.
as you may notice in the Frodo meme I used caption colors matching the image colors
(i.e. the bright font shadow matches the image background color whereas the text color is not a genuine black but a very dark brown - maybe corresponding to the Frodo hair)
but that's just a choice - I didn't try out different font colors and leave the experimentig up to you.

Yeah, I noticed that. I actually used to have a thing about matching my font in some way to an image. Then I moved into really liking to make a contrast more than a match, then I moved into doing it other ways. I love to play around with the colors and outline. Sometimes to my detriment. LOL

yes contrast also has it's merits as it draws attention when people scroll through the pages.
I don't suggest there's a right or wrong; each memer has theír personal style or preferences on font colors.
Dark shadows on dark text however (or bright on bright) tarnish readability.
I usually scroll on if a caption is to hard to read in a glimpse. That's an upvote-obstacle.

I am totally self indulgent in this regard. I just do what feels pleasing to me. No one has ever complained (not to me directly or behind my back that I am aware of). Sometimes I love to do black letters with a bright outline or vice versa. I really like to see others who do creative things with their text, as long as it isn't so tiny that I can't read it of course.

yeah as I said - I like your meme and it's worth a redo.
my old eyes do have some trouble with some captions.

I am about to resub this one with tweaks. I have procrastinated long enough. I'm interested to see how this goes.
