I do regret lampooning 'redneck talk,' which unfortunately this wasn't the only time. But in this case, I was in a 'debate' against two who kept telling me they were protecting me with their guns, news to me because I could have sworn I had no backup ever here in the Bronx. So that was originally a meme comment to them.
Why leave, especially with such links going in our history? Surely none of them would have left in such dire circuimstances (sorry, I hadda, haha).
These are scary times, and much hinges on Nov/Jan.
But the fact is, what's going on here is happening everywhere else, and due to the same reasons. Russian bots stirring up far right nationalistic fervor, calling for guns, trying to weaken links internal and external... Europe is falling to it, Canada seems not so bad yet, but neither were we not to long ago. Australia, maybe is alright-ish, New Zealand is nice, the UK is crumbling because of both left & right policies, and the rest of the world, I wouldn't bother.
As an American, you will be the perpetual outsider. An 18yo having to diconnect from all he knows at this important phase of life won't be a simple matter of temporary adjustment either.
Don't know where you are, but if you must, I'd head to the Northwest or better, New England. Other than parts of Boston maybe, conservatives there are not so given to base impulses. NYC is good too if crowds are not an issue, and some parts are more suburban. NJ is prety decent as well.
Couldn't agree more with the rest you say, and I can't shake the thought that none of this is real. This is supposed to be the stuff of comedies, not reality.
