respect the flag
In other words, you're saying people should leave if they want to practice their freedom to do things you don't like? It seems like you don't understand the concept of liberty at all.
By your logic, then I have the freedom to murder people too?
See how extreme thinking never works?
This flag represents the nation in which you are granted those rights. You disrespect this flag? Then you forfeit those rights.
It really isn't that hard.
You buy a ticket to go to the movies? You throw the ticket away, they have the right to throw you out b/c you do not have a ticket.
"By your logic, then I have the freedom to murder people too?"
No, because murder is illegal. Disrespecting the flag is not illegal.
Disrespecting the US flag does not in any way mean that someone forfeits their rights. The flag is merely a symbol of the United States; it is not the literal source of our rights. If I burn a photo of the president, I don't get charged with assasinatinng them. The photo is merely a symbol of them.
Your movie ticket analogy would make more sense if we were talking about someone renouncing their US citizenship, rather than just disrespecting the flag.
Are you saying you want to live in a country where people are not allowed to say anything bad about it?
So it is a matter of legality? That's your argument? If it is not illegal, then everyone can do it?
Then you're all ok with CEOs using legal loopholes to cheat tax? Or get rich? Because it is LIBERTY?
Your logical fallacy is so visible, how can you not even see it?
There IS no such thing as absolute freedom. That's called anarchy, not liberty. So you have no argument.
The flag represents all the "liberty" you claim. If you disrespect it, you rejected it. You rejected all the liberty it provides.
The logic is NOT that hard, stop trying to be a ... what's that word when someone who just keeps arguing for the sake of arguing even when they're wrong....
"So it is a matter of legality? That's your argument? If it is not illegal, then everyone can do it?"
Technically, yes. That's how laws work. If something is not illegal, you can do it. Whether it's morally right is another issue.
"Then you're all ok with CEOs using legal loopholes to cheat tax? Or get rich? Because it is LIBERTY?"
Again, if they can legally do it, they can get away with it, even if it's immoral.
"Your logical fallacy is so visible, how can you not even see it?"
Which logical fallacy are you referring to? There are dozens.
"There IS no such thing as absolute freedom."
I never said there was
"The flag represents all the "liberty" you claim. If you disrespect it, you rejected it. You rejected all the liberty it provides."
Except that the person who disrespects the flag is not only not rejecting their freedoms, they are utilizing them in the very act of disrespecting the flag.
In the US we have freedom of speech. That includes speech which is disrespectful, even towards the flag, government and nation itself.
I don't know what you're talking about. I never asked the government to tell me these things.
I don't stand up for the pledge of allegiance.
