It's okay, that's only 10,000+ American lives lost per year

Let's get a little perspective here, and realize how tiny the population of Australia is for one thing.
Population of the United States 323 million
Population of Australia 24 million
Population of the state of Texas 27 million
Don't fall for the medias hype, the only reason you think that America has such a high murder rate is because of A: tilted media perspective, and B: America's population is 13 times that of Australia. Both countries have a per capita murder rate of less than five per 100,000 people.

And the tilted numbers being repeated everywhere about 30,000 gun murders a year which happens to include firearm suicides, lawful uses of firearms in prevention of crimes, justified officer involved shootings, and accidental discharges. TRUE numbers need to be out there and reported on properly.

That's funny. Every Australian I've met, and I've met quite a few, oppose Australian gun laws and speak bitterly about them. A few of the Aussie's I've met have "defected" to the USA, and became citizens. They even went as far as getting their concealed handgun licenses and exercised their rights and bought several firearms.

That's been my experience talking too. Seems like the violence is back up where it used to be.

Just like the UK and the USSR - people seem to have no trouble figuring out it can still be done with knives, bats, poison, hammers, and lots of other unpleasant things :-/
