No pencils are responsible for writing. If words written with pencils could kill than pencils would be regulated. We would not give them to children and insane people.

Indeed you are correct that no pencil was responsible. The person was. Same applies to guns. The progressive nonsense always directs the blame to the incorrect thing and leaves out the true underlying issue. The person. It is always the tool and not the user controlling it. Hammers kill people every year. Ban them. Cars. Knives. Cell phones cause more vehicle deaths than any other reason. Ban them. Do not ban one under your logic and not the others that also fit your personal perspective. That is hypocritical nonsense.

When people say that, they mean that guns are not the ones responsible for killing people it's the people that use them that are.

When someone is killed by a car what do we say? He was killed by a guy with a car but it wasn't really the car? Guns kill people. The fact that someone is operating it is obvious

You're implying that cars are fully or partly responsible when in a crash or when someone was killed on purpose with a car which is ridiculous since they are just inanimate objects like guns. I don't think hardly anyone says that people are killed by someone using a car usually people say that they died by a drunk driver or that they were run over. not that they died because of a car. And when people die in a car crash people don't say that we should make it harder to get access to cars we press no driving when drunk.
people die BY guns, not guns killing people, guns can't just go on a mass shooting that is implying that they can shoot without an operator.
