Israel doesn't have this problem, because there the teachers can return fire. The're not naive enough to fall for this lambs are safe if we declare it a gun-free zone silliness.

But they're under worse threat that you are daily, so what would they know?

Every Israeli citizen has to undergo compulsory military service, is that what you want for America? Israel is also surrounded by hostile countries, who have a history of invasion and attacks. Israel also shots unarmed Palestinians, so you don't really want to compare yourselves to them.

I am no slavish fan of Israel, and I oppose trying the tight statism here. So obviously that's not what I want. It has nothing to do with "comparison," just with what works, and a teacher that can respond immediately is what deters effectively there, and therefore equally well here. .

I want instead for security to lie where it is safest, which is with the people.

The disarmament of the people is the opposite of that, with unfortunately provably bad results.

Yet again, and it is only February, another school in America, another lot of dead kids. When will they learn, it's not getting better, it's only getting worse
